1320085980 46 'Resident Evil 5' 16 Zombies Injured During Accident on Set

16 actors dressed as zombies were injured this morning during an accident on the Toronto set of the horror flick “Resident Evil 5” … but the costumes were so gory, officials had a tough time assessing the REAL injuries. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … the actors were on a set that was on wheels … when the set suddenly moved, and the 16 actors plummeted roughly 20 feet down to the ground. We’re told none of the injuries appear to be life threatening — but some of the actors are being treated for arm, leg and back injuries — and possible broken bones. All of the actors were transported to a local hospital. TMZ has learned the Toronto Police Dept. and the Ministry of Labor are investigating the situation.

RE5 PS3 – Resident Evil 5 Review

1319923978 44 RE5 PS3 Resident Evil 5 Review

Resident Evil 5 on the PlayStation 3 (which I will be referring to as RE5 PS3) was released by Capcom in 2009, and is the seventh game in the long-running survival horror series featuring zombies, virus’ and lots of puzzles.

In this RE5 PS3 review, I will be taking a quick look at the game from the point of view of someone that has played it to death since it’s released in March 2009. since most reviews are published at the release of the game, I feel that I will be able to give a different perspective, particularly when it comes to the replay value of the game.

The replay value of the game is the best of the series, as there’s so many secrets and side quests that you can do, as well as there being a tonne of different weapons to collect. since it’s very unlikely that you’ll collect and get to use all of these guns, grenades and other weapons on your first play-through, you’ll want to revisit the game and squeeze every last drop of zombie-killing out of it.

The game’s graphics are breathtaking, and I’d rank them alongside ‘Metal Gear Solid 4′ and ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2′ as one of the best looking games to ever be released. in addition to the graphics, the soundtrack is also top-notch, and you can really tell that Capcom spend a lot of time and money perfecting it, as it complements the action perfectly, and makes the game better for it.

RE5 PS3 is the first game in the series to feature a multiplayer mode, and you can play through the entire story mode co-operatively with a friend, which is great fun. You’ll play as Chris (who dates back to Resident Evil 1) and Sheva (a new character) in a baron Africa, where you’ve been sent to investigate a lot of mysterious incidents. overall the game has real class, and should be owned by anyone old enough to play it.

‘Resident Evil’ zombie actors injured on set

1318629896 41 Resident Evil zombie actors injured on set

Sixteen actors dressed as zombies were injured today when they fell from a platform during filming of a new movie in the “Resident Evil” series, officials said, and rescue workers at first were startled at the seemingly catastrophic scene.

I could see the look on the first paramedic, saying ‘oh my God,’” Toronto emergency medical services Commander David Ralph said with a laugh.

The victims’ zombie costumes made it difficult at first for crews to assess the severity of their injuries, Toronto emergency medical spokesman Peter Macintyre said. Officials said none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

Paramedics responded to the call from Cinespace Film Studios about 8:30 a.m., and Toronto Police Sgt. Andrew Gibson said responders quickly figured out which zombies were injured and which were just in character. “It did kind of catch us off guard when we walked in,” he said.

The victims had suffered leg, back and arm injuries. Twelve were taken to a hospital.

Police Constable Tony Vella said the actors had been filming a scene on a high wheeled platform. The platform moved as they were going to another platform, leaving a gap into which the zombies fell.

The film’s producers, Davis Films/Impact Pictures (RE5) inc., Constantin Film International GmbH, issued a statement that said the accident involved background actors. they said a 4-foot high platform separated from the set, creating a gap.

They said one actor suffered a cracked rib, one a broken leg and one a possible back injury.

Seven of the injured have already returned to the set, they said.

“Resident Evil: Retribution” is the fifth installment of a franchise based on the popular video game series and will be distributed by Screen Gems and Sony Pictures.

Lead actress Milla Jovovich was not on set at the time of the accident, according to her representative Christine Tripicchio.

Vella said the incident is classified as an industrial accident. Ontario’s Ministry of Labor is investigating.

Resident Evil 4 Overrated?

No Comments 09 October 2011

1318131332 41 Resident Evil 4 Overrated?

Let me start off by saying Resident Evil 4 was a great game. Sure it may have lacked the classic thriller gameplay the past Resident Evil games had, but overall it did well introducing a more action adventure game. Resident Evil 4 was awesome when it came out on the PS2 and Gamecube as the whole concept of shooting and killing zombie monsters pumps any Resident Evil gamer out there. Now the controls were a little hard to master at first, but after a couple hours it was fairly easy to use and well worth the wait. Let’s get a little further deep with the controls. first of all it’s addicting. Yes being able to shoot zombies anywhere in the body and having a different effect as to where the zombie was shot is amazing. with different guns and shotguns players are even able to shoot the zombies head off. Yes i know what your picturing a headless walking zombie. well that’s what you see in this game. Besides shooting players are even allowed to perform some fight moves such as kicking and punching.

The storyline is impressive, but most of the time the game is heard as save the President’s daughter, kill zombies, bring the President’s daughter home. Let me tell you that is completely false The storyline for the game goes on for a long time with many new zombies and bosses players will encounter. killing the zombies isn’t that easy, plus they hold up well when being shot multiple times. The bosses are somewhat difficult to kill especially since they don’t seem to do the same movement over and over again. They’re actually pretty smart and know how to find you when your hiding. I’ll try to clarify this, when hiding from let’s say this huge beast like creature, one would assume it’s just going to walk around smash anything it sees and repeat the process. A game routine which is quite common for some bosses in video games. however in RE4 this does not happen. The enemy monsters are will aware of where you are hiding and they will find you.

The setting and environments in this game are outstanding. and no it does not all take place on a farm. Players will encounter enemies in factories, freezers, cannons, industrial areas, caves, and castles. All these areas contain well detailed exposure to what environments like these actually contain. Players will have fun and enjoy the aspect of killing new enemies at different locations. As players make their way through out the game they will receive and find money which will be very useful in purchasing new weapons from what looks to me like an old guy that follows you and sells guns to you. DO NOT SHOT HIM like other shooting games players will be able to purchase new and more powerful weapons and are even allowed to upgrade each weapon. It will cost you though, nothing in this game is free.

Overall i give this game a 9.5/10 maybe i am overrating it, but who knows this is the way i feel about the game. Resident Evil fans will be hyped and gasped at the concept Capcom has done to make this game so darn good. there is literally so much action in this game, players will always have something to do whether it’s killing zombies, fighting enemy bosses, or just solving little missions every step of the way in this game.

Well that’s all i have to say about Resident Evil 4, hope you enjoyed my review. if you haven’t already go online and buy the game. It’s an extremely fun game to play.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Rezurrection DLC arrive this September 22nd

1317648941 19 Call of Duty: Black Ops Rezurrection DLC arrive this September 22nd

If you happen to be a huge fan of the Call of Duty series, regardless of whether you game on a console or on the PC, then you might want to mark September 22nd on your computer and black it out, doing nothing but wait for the downloadable content (DLC) to be made available. oh yeah, that’s also when you make sure no one else at home is hogging your Internet connection so that you can get it downloaded to the respective machine in the quickest time possible.

This will be the last DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Rezurrection will arrive on both the PC and PS3 on September 22nd, which of course, those who have been enjoying it prior are Xbox 360 owners. Love busting zombies and sending them back to where they came from? You won’t go wrong with this DLC that comprises of nothing but one zombie level after another. In fact, four of the five maps included with the add-on were already available in World at War and the Hardened Edition of Black Ops, so basically you’re getting only one brand new map – the “Moon” map.

Is that alone worth forking out $14.99 for? Ah well, as a consolation, I guess getting a Zombies soundtrack and a Moon theme (if you’re rocking to a PS3) ain’t too shabby after all.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

1317627333 47 Call of Duty: Black Ops

For this gift suggestion we wanted to recommend Call of Duty: Black Ops. It’s a shooting game for the PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PC, and Xbox 360. We’ll discuss the game in more detail below. Personally, we love Call of Duty and we think it would make a great gift. Of course, your man’s going to need one of the consoles listed above. if you’re man is a fan of shooters then he’ll definitely love Call of Duty (COD). It’s currently one of the best selling games and hottest franchises available.

If you’ve ever played COD before then you should have an understanding of the game. It’s a wartime game that takes places in various countries during different eras. in Black Ops you’ll be playing in the cold War era. in Black Ops you can play a variety of different play modes including single player, local multi-player, and online Co-Op mode. This is the seventh installment in the Call of Duty series.

Overall the reviews for this game has been great. With mini games like Nazi Zombies we’re not surprised. Personally we love Call of Duty and it’s one of our favorite games of all times. out of the reviews, the game managed to average a four out of five star rating. the majority of the fans weighed in and have given the game a great rating. some of the negative reviews come from people who didn’t think the game managed to live up to it’s reputation. Of course, that’s just their lone opinion.

‘inFamous 2: Festival of Blood’ Trailers And Info

1316615605 76 ‘inFamous 2: Festival of Blood’ Trailers And Info

There’s some sort of strange enjoyment in being scared, whether watching a well-done horror movie, listening to a scary story around the campfire, or reading a well-crafted horror novel. Whatever the case, people like to be scared. It’s why Halloween is such a popular holiday, and the folks at Sucker Punch understand this. so, to celebrate the holiday of the scary and the macabre, they’ve decided to release Festival of Blood, a downloadable sequel to their most recent game, inFamous 2.

At PAX Prime this past weekend, Sucker Punch unveiled Witness the Resurrection, a special sneak preview trailer that sets up Festival of Blood’s plot using the typical inFamous comic book style of animation. have a look for yourself at the downloadable, stand-alone sequel to inFamous 2.

In case the dried-up, fanged corpse, Zeke’s story about “fangers,” or the use of Cole’s blood didn’t give it away, it looks as though our hero will be taking on a swarm of vampires in his latest adventure. give credit to Sucker Punch, at least they mixed things up and didn’t use zombies like most other titles do, such as Red Dead Redemption‘s Undead Nightmare expansion (see our review here).

Following the events of inFamous 2 (see our review right here), Cole MacGrath is captured by a clan of vampires, and his blood is used to revive their leader. they attack the city of New Marais, seeking to take over and feed on anyone in their way. it doesn’t help that their leader now has Cole’s blood running through his veins, meaning he’s now a Conduit himself. To make matters even worse, Cole gets bitten, and is now a vampire himself. He officially has one night to hunt down and kill the lead vampire, in order to both save New Marais and himself.

An earlier trailer offers a few more details on Festival of Blood. have a look for yourselves.

From what we can see, it appears as though Festival of Blood will have the expected Karma System typical of the inFamous series, apparently focusing on Cole’s new identity as a vampire. Players will have to make the choice of either fighting the desire for blood, or giving in and attacking whoever they can.

Remember, Festival of Blood is not an add-on for inFamous 2 — it is its own game, so you don’t need to worry about picking up a copy of inFamous 2 if you want to play Cole’s forthcoming adventure.

Will you be playing Festival of Blood? will you focus on killing the vampires and saving the city, or will you give in and become a creature of the night yourself?

inFamous 2: Festival of Blood comes out this October on PSN, just in time for Halloween.

Patch Notes: Dead Island

No Comments 21 September 2011

2011 09 17 deadisland Patch Notes: Dead IslandBefore we introduce the changes and bug fixes in this version of Dead Island, we would like to thank our customers for their patience.

Sure, we accidentally released an old version of the game at launch, then asked everyone to re-download the whole thing only to realize that this time we had uploaded a DVD rip of Robocop 3.

You, however, stuck by us, and we truly appreciate that. it is our sincere belief that Dead Island is now the open world first person zombie action-rpg that we set out to make.

  • Time now moves forward.
  • It seems that some players were uncomfortable with the way that female bikini zombies collapsed after death, with their legs spread and their asses raised in the air. We added an apology in fine print to the bikini butthole texture.
  • People really seem to love the color coded loot, so we added the remaining 24 million colors to the random drop system. They do not denote any particular level of quality, but technically speaking they do make each item much more rare.
  • Removed the escape boat which would occasionally spawn off the coast within the first ten minutes, drastically shortening the length of the game.
  • Added way more blood splatters to every menu. you can barely see what you're selecting. It's great.
  • Reworked inventory management. All weapons are now kept under the Misc tab, all miscellaneous items are kept under the Quest Items tab, and all quest items are now impossible to pick up.
  • Removed an item from the main menu which simply read "Hot Dog Button". still not sure how it got there.
  • Driving controls have been simplified and reworked to feel more natural. Pressing the only remaining button will now initiate the warp drive and immediately take you to your destination.
  • Kissing a zombie no longer turns you into a zombie, unless you use tongue.
  • After hacking individual limbs off of zombies, many players were wondering why they couldn't pick those limbs up and use them as weapons. To remedy this, detached body parts now disappear upon hitting the ground.
  • Added water to the environment, making the island an actual island rather than a figurative island. Sheesh, some people just don't understand subtext.
  • Zombie combat simply wasn't as visceral and disgusting as we intended. Replaced all zombie models with FMV of medical cadavers being torn apart by lions.
  • Every single instance of voice acting was terrible. We kept it all in, but overlaid some random unlicensed clips of Nolan North and Steve Blum.

Preview: Dead Island for PS3

Preview: Dead Island for PS3GEOFF PARMENTER 0 of 0

PREVIEW: The Royal Palms Resort on Banoi Island has a terrible problem. An infestation has swept the tropical paradise and now a mindless, all-consuming horde lurks its sparkling sands and poolside bars.

But Aussie tourists aren’t the only horrible disaster to befall this small island off the coast of Papua new Guinea: a lesser but arguably more pressing evil is a freshly minted zombie plague.

Dead Island is a first-person sandbox survival game from Techland. Players will run, fight, be mauled and hope to survive an open world undead apocalypse.

we recently got an hour-long hands on that let us play through the early stages of the game, the usual tutorial mission that sets you the task of learning to run, duck and swing weapons and a brief look at the open nature of the game.

The opening scene sees the player, in the first-person perspective, wandering drunkenly around a club and being a nuisance to partygoers before attempting to get on stage with Miscellaneous-B, an interestingly dressed rapper who just happens to be waxing lyrical about voodoo and zombies. After being pushed from the stage the player is ejected from the bar, but not before one of the ladies who only seconds ago called you a “git” (guess which land girt by sea she hails from), lunges at the security and takes a chunk out of his neck.

In your stupor, it seems, you take no notice of the gushing blood and obviously-delicious humans around and head back to your hotel to wash down a couple of pills and hit the hay. It’s been a hard night of being an oblivious tool.

While in the land of nod character selection occurs, and four playable characters are on offer. it is in this character selection that a small taste of the touted “heavy RPG elements” comes into play. each of the four characters has a specialisation that will affect their talent tree and the way players go about surviving Dead Island.

Xian Mei, for example, is promoted as proficient with sharp weapons. Purna prefers guns, Sam B is best with blunt weapons and Logan specialises in thrown weapons. These preferences are much more important later, when levelling and building a character come into effect.

First though, hangovers and zombie-infested hotels must be escaped. with the help of the mini-map and some none too subtle prompting, players are shown the ropes, click left stick to sprint, right to crawl and so on. with no weapons available in these opening passages of play, Dead Island throws the player hectic and occasionally startling run-for-your-life scenarios.

It’s in the fractions of downtime during this escape that some of the beauty of the game shines through, a zombie free 10th floor veranda offers a great view of the tropical vistas – a moment of reflection as the sun peaks over far lush hills leaving everything awash in an ephemeral glow. Beautiful; if you could just tune out the roaring sound of unchecked fires and the screams of the human smorgasbord.

with the sturdy and seemingly easily defend-able hotel shrinking into the distance, the player arrives at what has become a safe house for a handful of survivors: a thatch beach hut.

Inside is bleak; survivors cower in corners talking to themselves, crying, and are only too eager to espouse in great detail the awful things they have witnessed, or what they had to do to survive so far. Being a resort, catering to a varied international clientèle, in addition to the near cringe-inducing heavy Aussie twang, players will hear a mixed bag of other subtle English-language accents.

Just outside the cardboard-thin front door, a man is attempting to fight off a horde of zombies. Rather than helping him themselves, the other refugees scold you for not saving him – a common theme through the early part of the game as you seem to be the only survivor capable exiting the house. The trick to Dead Island, we’re told, is not to ask why.

so it is with oar in hand that a first taste of combat is had and the visceral, melee focused nature of Dead Island is revealed. The target zombies have floating health bars offering both the level and variety of zombie. In addition to the experience points that come pouring out of their husks like they were rotten piñatas, these really drill home the RPG feel that comes through in moments of this game.

In the early play available there were only two zombie types on show the Walkers – the fodder – and the tougher Thugs, capable of hitting the player to the ground in a single swing if allowed to close. It’s worth pointing out here that Dead Island wears its influences on its sleeve. The team at Techland are fans of the TV series The Walking Dead, something evidenced by the term “Walker”.

Back to the combat, misjudging a weapon swing, or simply getting surprised leads to a quick time event to try to escape. Immediately, though, there is a slight disconnect as the range of your swing is often hard to gauge, even after 15 minutes of clubbing the shambling horde there were still extended periods of time spent swinging and repeatedly missing as we try to determine the active length of our chosen weapon.

Happily, when you do connect, there is a real sense of the damage delivered to both the target and the weapon. Body parts react to attacks and weapons will warp, splinter, bend or break as they are used. In the first scrap with the dead, the recently acquired oar was quickly broken down to a pointed stick after clearing a group of zombies off the hapless survivor.

Inside again and the recently rescued holiday-goer – toting a Mike Tyson-like facial tattoo and an Australian accent that could strip paint – turns out to be your early quest hub and sends you on missions to acquire security cards and retake the lifeguard base.

Trekking through the beachfront resort offers a brief glimpse of how much there is in the world to interact with. Most everything is useable, weapons can be found littering the beach and bags, luggage, chilli bins and many other cases offer loot in the form of money (which is still worth something and helps build or fix weapons) to bits and pieces to help craft new and better weapons.

once the lifeguard base is secured quick-travel is available as long as you’ve discovered places to travel to and with hordes of zombies around every sun-drenched corner this system will surely be a popular addition. along with quick travel, the newly fortified base serves as a hub for many side-quests that send you to all parts of the expansive island.

After acquiring enough experience, gained from killing zombies and completing quests, players will level up and can spend points in three skill trees. These unlock a variety of active and passive abilities. The trees are made up of a combat tree, used to increase weapon damage and fighting abilities, a survival tree to increase your character’s ability to endure, and a rage tree which increases your rage abilities (an intriguing set of options not encountered in the hands-on).

There is still much to see in Dead Island, but the hour-long play was enough to give a fair impression about what to expect. Dead Island may be unfairly compared to other zombie survival games but a heavy focus on melee combat, the ability for players to build characters however they please means there is a depth here not seen before. Set for a September release this open world zombie survival title is one to keep an eye on.
