Every true Halo 3 fan has lusted after the recon armor. It is like a mythical creature for some, the Loch Ness monster or the Bigfoot of the game world. many have searched for it yet few have found it. the reason that recon armor is so sought after is because it has to be given out directly by a Bungie staff member. the members were the only ones to have it at first, but they were then given the ability give out armor to certain players that they felt exhibited some seriously good game play or those who did something especially innovative or cool.

Bungie employees were pretty tight with the recon armor and very few people obtained the armor but there is hope for those who have lusted after it for so long. according to several speculative sources the new Halo 3 ODST disc, due out this fall, will offer achievements that will allow players to unlike the armor. the achievements are not going to be easy and there are several that need to be achieved for the whole shebang to become available but the option is there for those who are really looking to get the goods.

The good news in all of this is that you do not have to wait for the new disc to get started on getting the achievements needed for the recon armor. the Vidmaster Challenge achievements that were released in September are believed to be the first key to getting recon armor. Specialty weekend challenges have also been periodically released recently that are believed to have something to do with the full on recon armor.

Some of the achievements are pretty exact and need to be completed at certain times. for example one Vidmaster challenge requires you to enter into a ranked or social play list with 7 EXP on the seventh of any given month. another challenge requires you complete Halo on 4 player legendary Live coop. the directions are pretty specific and can be found directly via Bungie.

What the future challenges will be still remains a bit shrouded in mystery. Bungie loves to drop clues and cryptic hints but they are not about to come out and tell everyone what they will need to do in the future. They prefer the Wait and see approach to dealing with gamers and it does add a certain element of fun to the entire ordeal.

The good news in all of this is that you will be able to achieve full recon armor without having to beg, plead and bribe Bungie employees but I promise you that it is not about to be easy in anyway Good luck on your quest.

How to Get Halo 3 Recon Armor

How to Get Halo 3 Recon Armor

To say that Halo 3 has proven to be an enormously popular video game would be a dramatic understatement. Many games are popular but few reach the level of a pop culture phenomenon. such is the case with Halo 3 as evidenced by the hundreds of millions of dollars in sales revenues amassed by the game. But, no matter how popular the game may be, players need to be able to succeed at the game or the number of players interested in it will dwindle. one way to increase the chances of success at the game is to make sure the characters are fully armored. this will protect them against many of the threats they face and allow them to achieve their gaming objectives.

There are many different types of armor that can be acquired in the game. These armor types include Mark V, Hayabusa, Scout, and many other variants. Among the most powerful is Recon Armor and, in addition to being highly formidable, it is also the most difficult armor to acquire during game play. Thankfully, difficult does not mean impossible and those hoping to acquire this elusive armor can certainly do so if they have the right guidance.

Originally, the acquisition of Recon Armor was limited to Bungie Employees. In time, Bungie made the armor available to those that were members of its community provided they met certain criteria. (This criteria was often based around players performing very silly stunts as opposed to anything heroic) Needless to say, this made the armor scarce. Scarcity and rarity will immediately make something more valuable. it will also lead to discontentment if players feel excluded due to favoritism. as such, the armor has been made available in a limited manner to those that can follow the pathway to achieve it.

One way to acquire this armor will be based upon forge skills. If your skill level on forge attributes reaches certain exceptional heights, the doors to acquiring this armor will be opened. If you have an aptitude for this type of skill, you can approach your Recon Armor acquisition in an expedient manner. If you lack such skill, there is no reason to fret. you can simply take the steps necessary to build up your forge talents. as your forge skills increase, the ability to acquire Halo 3 Recon Armor becomes more probable. If, however, the ability to develop forge skills is outside your area of expertise there is another option available.

This option centers on the Vidmaster Challenges. These challenges entail completing the game of Halo 3 within a specified amount of time and achieving certain specific objectives. These challenges will be set aside to be completed on a specific date. those that have completed 3 of these challenges will be awarded with Recon Armor. Now, is it easy to complete these challenges? no, it requires a lot of skill and talent. Hence, that is the reason there is a reward and this reward is the acquisition of the elusive Halo 3 Recon Armor. that alone makes the challenges worth it.

 GGL Signups Coming September 21st

The summer season of GrifballHub’s good Games League is in the books. On Friday, September 2, the Hot Bikini Guyz took the GGL Summer Championship in an epic three game series against the defending champs Way to Fail. We’ll have more on that matchup and the Guyz’ season next week, but now it’s time to move on to our Autumn season!

Based on the feedback we’ve received from all of you, there are a number of changes coming to the league to make your Grifball experience even better.

The eternal struggle in organized Grifball remains the battle between two favored gametypes: Vanilla Grifball and Grifball Dash. Vanilla Grifball is the sport as it appears in matchmaking: you get hammers and swords, but no armor abilities.

Grifball Dash is Grifball with a bit of spice: Not only can you use Sprint and Evade, but you can also use them while holding onto the ball. This gives new meaning to the term “Runner”, and also allows you to use the very awesome/very frustrating Barrel Roll move.

Look at 'im go!

Different strokes for different folks. we like to cater to everyone, so this season teams will be able to choose what they would like their default gametype to be. Teams that prefer Vanilla will be placed in Vanilla divisions, and teams that prefer Dash will be placed in Dash divisions. If you want, you can play every game of the season on your preferred gametype, including every playoff game.

The default Vanilla gametype is GGL Vanilla FL2011. the default Vanilla court is RunNokyardRun’s Bloody Grifball. the gametype is based off of the default gametype for the AGLA, which includes slightly reduced gravity and a slightly increased jump height for the runner.

The default Dash gametype is GGL Dash FL2011. the default Dash court remains Sierra Vista, by Nuclear Taco 42.

Both default gametypes are five untimed rounds.

However, like we’ve done in the past, teams can use any Grifball map and gametype they wish, as long as both captains agree. so if you get on to play, and both teams feel like rocking some Blargball, feel free to play your games on Blargball. the answer to “how do I Griffball??” is still “anyway you want!”

Blargball is the only real way to play, anyway.

As you may have heard, Goosechecka announced at Halo Fest that the next season of the GGL will include a complete stat tracker for every player and team in the league. When you submit your game results, not only will your wins and losses on your schedule and division page update, but your stats for the match — including kills, deaths, betrayals, goals, assassinations, and even Yoink! medals — will be tabulated.

You’ll be able to search for your individual stats, the individual stats of every person on your team, and the stats for your squad as a whole:

Of course, with the introduction of a stat tracker, we will also be bringing back the weekly awards! as you may have seen in our recent Respect your Roots articles, the GGL used to feature weekly awards for the top players and teams in kills, deaths, betrayals, game time, etc. But when we jumped from 20 teams to 200, the awards sadly fell to the wayside. however, now that we have an automatic stat process, we can once again resume the weekly (and seasonal) awards! can you take home the coveted Benedict Arnold award for most betrayals in a single week?

On September 14th, we will be kicking off a one-week celebration for the one-year anniversary of the release of Halo Reach. the game that allowed us to create dozens of variants, a full-time Grifball playlist, and really gave the entire sport a real shot-in-the-arm will turn one year old, and we’re going to be partying with tournaments, contests, and community events.

Join us! It'll be well worth your time!

More details will be released soon, but the celebration will be capped off with the opening of GGL signups on Wednesday, September 21. Signups will remain open until 11:59PM EST on Wednesday, September 28. the season will begin on Monday, October 3.

We’ll also be bringing back the favorite features of the GGL: the Achieveables will return, and teams will once again be allowed to borrow players from other teams throughout the regular season.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions. we hope you’re as hyped about this season as we are!

See you on the court!
