St. Catherine’s Living Center will host a Walk for
Awareness beginning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, in honor of World Alzheimer’s Day.
The two-mile walk will begin and end at St. Catherine’s in Wahpeton. Checkpoints along the way will offer music, giveaways and educational material. there will be food, music and education and a shorter route is available so that everyone can participate.
Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States.
“We are holding the Walk for Awareness in support of the more than 18,000 people in North Dakota living with Alzheimer’s and the more than 26,000 family caregivers who love them,” said Jacqi Glenn, St. Catherine’s Community Relations Coordinator.
Glenn expressed the motivation for the event. “It is so important that we show our support for people in our community dealing with this disease. We want you to know, you don’t have to go through it alone. As one of our volunteers put it, we need to talk about it.”
The event is sponsored by Gate City Bank, Mrs J’s and Jodi Hendrickson, Edward Jones.
Anyone interested in walking as a team or individual can show up on walk day. Pre-registration is preferred but not required.
